Diljeet & Kay were married at the beautiful Popinjay just outside of Glasgow.
As a gesture to each other they adopted each others traditions for their wedding day. Diljeet wore Kay’s family tartan and Kay wore a traditional Indian wedding dress with all the trimmings.
Their ceremony included a walk around a fire over their vows, a drink from the quake, hand fasting, necklaces and all made complete with a ceilidh first dance.
This day was full to the brim with love. 💞 I enjoyed every minute of it. 🙌

Laura & Scott were married on Easter Weekend in Glasgow at Oran Mor. It was the first heat wave of 2019 and was an absolutely perfect day for outdoor photos. These two had an amazing wedding with an epic cake, a choreographed first dance and truly amazing music all day!
I captured their day in both photos and video. Check out the highlight video for a taste of the day!

Happy Earth Day! As LUSTRE Video & Photography strives to be an eco-friendly company, I thought I would share a few ideas on how to go green on your wedding day! Weddings can be the most memorable day of your life so you definitely don’t want to compromise on your fairytale wedding and the good news is you wont have to! These are some easy tips on making your big day a little bit greener!
Say no to glitter! Glitter is made from tiny bits of plastic (micro plastic) which small animals mistake as food. Also this micro plastic might take more than 500 years to break down! Instead why not choose a biodegradable confetti like dried flower petals. The White Wedding & Party sell these on Amazon in a variety of colours for a very affordable price!
Second Hand Dress
Sometimes buying a second hand dress can be WAY more budget friendly and you are also helping the planet! OR why not donate your dress to a charity of your choice once you’ve worn it so that someone else can buy one second hand for their big day.
Two ways to go green with your invites are:
- Virtual Invites. Send your invitations online! The internet celebrated it’s 30th birthday this year, so I think It’s fair to say that everyone (even Gran and Grandad) will be able to receive your E-Invite. (And if not, you can always send them a special personalised invite just for them). Not only will you receive a faster response, but you will certainly save money on postage and printing costs! Check out websites like wedinvite.com who specialise in these services.
- Use recycled paper in your invites. This doesn’t mean you have to compromise on quality. Most professional printing services offer recycled paper as a printing option. Get in touch with your printer to see what their options are.
Decorations & Wedding Favours
The possibilities are endless when it comes to going green with decorations and wedding favours! Here are some things you could consider for your wedding day:
- Go straw-less or use paper straws instead
- Go balloon-less or use biodegradable balloons
- Use recycled material to create your centre pieces. Old jars or empty gin or whisky bottles are great! - Pinterest is great for this!
- Don’t use disposable cutlery or tableware.
- Find fun decorations from a vintage/charity shop instead of buying everything new.
Flowers are a bit more tricky. If you decide to have real flowers, some might criticize for all the energy used in their production and on their lack of sustainability (even though they are bio degradable) and alternatively if you decide to go with fake flowers, they are often made of plastic or contain plastic fabric (like acrylic) and will take hundreds of years to biodegrade! So here are a few green alternative options:
- Buy flowers from a sustainable florist. There are tons throughout the UK. Here is an example of a great one.
- Make flowers (or have them made) from recycled material (old maps or old books).
Whenever you have the choice to buy locally, you are reducing your carbon footprint! Think about it like this…the closer the product is to you, the less it will need to travel around the world to get to you- which means less carbon emissions are being used. Here are a few examples of things you could go locally with:
- Wine / Beer / Alcohol - Embrace your local brewery or winery!
- Food Ingredients
Wedding Photography Albums
There are many options out there to have wedding albums made. LUSTRE Video & Photography uses a company called Folio Albums to produce all of its wedding albums. The best thing about this company is their commitment being sustainable! These albums are hand-bound, using the finest quality cover materials, papers and inks. Each double spread opens out flat with an almost invisible crease so photographs can be displayed across two pages.

Do What You Can
Don’t beat yourself up if you can’t do all of these! You need to remember that it is impossible to do everything. These tips are just to spark some ideas on where you might be able to go a bit greener. Sometimes the green option is the more expensive option (not always, but sometimes) and we all have to work towards a realistic budget. So if you can embrace a few of these green tips then you should feel proud that you are consciously making an effort to fight climate change.
